The project is a promoter and supplier of Vetiver grass (see www.vetiver.com for more details of this plant)in Senegal, West Africa.
Vetiver is a very effective way of sequestering carbon emissions and countering the effects and impact of global climate change which is currently having a devastating effect on the environment and rural communities in Senegal i.e. erosion from flash flooding, soil erosion, and drought. It is also highly effective in supporting organic agriculture, removing pollution from water, and the stabilisation of landfill sites. We work closely with a Senegalese NGO - La Cure, around the preservation of water resources.
Our current priority is to develop the scope and capacity of the project, especially in identifying potential partners in Voluntary Carbon Offsetting who are looking for additionally (i.e. other benefits in addition to carbon offsetting). The project works with local communities and individual farmers using participative approaches.
