I'm English but live here in Wellington, New Zealand. I moved here around 3 years ago, and enjoy all the amazing outdoor things you're so close to here... working in the nation's capital and being able to drive to the ski fields at weekends AND see the ocean on the way in to work is pretty cool.
Lets hope we can work together to make sure all that outdoor stuff is going to be worth looking at in the next 50 years.

Hey Matt, How are you doing? This system rocks :)
Hello Matt, NZ sounds really good. Do you see evidence of forward thinking on the part of the government in everyday life, ie renewable energy, efficiency schemes, biodiversity protection, sustainable agriculture, etc? Would you say the majority of the population are on board?
Thanks Matt :) Would love to chat - send me an email annabel[a]voeveo.com
Good Morning Matthew, Unfortunately the UK is still lagging behind much of the continent. Solar Thermal at the household scale gets only a £400 grant and the RE grant max for any household is £2500. Renewable Obligation Credits make it a little better but none of this is as effective as feed in tariffs at stimulating installations. The labour party has supported more nuclear power plants instead. Overall I don't think the people are cognizant of how serious the situation is, the government may be but just don't want to face it. Folks at my school, CAT in Wales, are trying to get the word out, having published ZERO Carbon Britain, but no one wants to hear that we aren't going to be able to consume our way out of this. Folks still seem to believe we need to build millions of low carbon homes, buy smaller cars, wear ethical clothing and recycle more. There is little thought given to the first rule of the triad, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. I like to remind folks that recycling is a failure to reuse which is a failure to reduce. I'm not saying we shouldn't practise green consuming when we must make purchases but that we should be consuming far less. Our excessive lifestyles are the problem.
That's a go for 12:30 today :) My mail is acting up. See you at L.
