It is my belief that by encouraging local commerce, we can considerably reduce carbon emissions.
Foods are shipped around the world at considerable costs while our local farmers can barely make ends meet. This is not wise in a era of increasing shipping costs. We need to shift to buying locally to strengthen our most important food suppliers. Your local farmers.
The North American economy has been built on the principals of planned obsolescence; the throw away society. With rapidly declining cheap energy resources this will prove to be unsustainable ever the next few decades. We need to encourage a major shift towards quality products, long term products and repairable products.
