About Us

Be Green was founded by Daniel and Delphine Stephens in Ann Arbor, Michigan on January 1, 2008. Our primary focus is to sell products that are sensitive to our environment and contribute in some way to reducing the amount of greenhouse gases that are released into the atmosphere; reducing the plastic content of our landfills; to promote and enhance recycling; and provide healthy alternatives for our community. We sell products that are 100% Biodegradable and Compostable in order to reduce our landfill consumption. These products include Bioplastic products made from corn Polylactide Acid and food containers made from sugar cane and bamboo. We would like to see the complete elimination of Polyethylene and Polystyrene from the food consumption chain. Polystyrene is known to leach styrene and benzene into hot food that comes in contact with the Polystyrene. Benzene and styrene are known carcinogens. Most take out food containers are made from Polystyrene, commonly referred to as Styrofoam. Polyethylene is used in the production of plastic food containers, storage bags, trash bags, and other similar plastic film products. We carry products to replace all of the products used in the food packaging and distribution chain. Most cleaning supplies on the market are some of the most harmful and dangerous products made on Earth, especially for our children. We carry a line of cleaning supplies, Greening the Cleaning, developed and sold by the Deirdre Imus Hospital for Pediatric Oncology in Hackensack, New Jersey. These products contain no harmful toxins, such as bleach, chlorine, or cyanide. These products use as many natural ingredients as possible. They include laundry detergent, floor cleaners, bathroom cleaners, and dishwashing detergents. http://www.dienviro.com Most commercial paints release Volatile Organic Compounds, which are gases that are emitted when carbon based products are applied. The most common VOC’s are methane and formaldehyde. VOC’s pollute the interior air of a home long after the paint and varnishes have dryed. Other commercial paints that have been developed to be VOC free release formaldehyde, ammonia, and acetone. We carry a line of paint, AFM, that is VOC free, or low-VOC that have no toxins at all. The paint also creates a SafeCoat that seals in the compounds to eliminate the release of toxins. http://www.dienviro.com Currently, we offer many products for businesses, offices and home use. We will be adding Solar powered products this summer, and we hope to add a line of Hard plastic containers made with PLA. We also hope to develop suppliers of PLA that use non-corn products to make the PLA. We will be working hard to add products that have the most impact on eliminating greenhouse gases, landfill consumption, and offer the healthiest products possible. Daniel Stephens Treasurer
