Department Overview
The Corporate Responsibility department is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive and integrated set of global strategies supporting The Walt Disney Company’s responsible practices and reputation. This includes providing overall vision and direction to the Company’s social responsibility efforts. Furthermore, CR insures that the principles of corporate responsibility are integrated into the operating practices of all TWDC businesses.
In 2006, The Walt Disney Company announced new guidelines for the company’s kid-targeted food products and marketing, setting a new standard in the industry. The company is committed to maintaining leading practices in this area and is looking for a manager to nurture the company’s efforts.
Qualifications
The group is seeking a bright strategic thinker with a strong understanding of business and a passion for consumer marketing and brands.
MBA or other advanced degree from a top-tier school preferred
Successful track record in consumer oriented environment desired
Must have at least 2 years post-graduate experience in consumer-oriented consulting, brand marketing/strategy, public affairs or public health at a blue-chip organization
Must have good leadership and presentation skills
Demonstrated interest in nutrition and health a plus
The successful candidate will bring interpersonal and presentation skills, ability to work in a team environment as well as independently, ability to manage several projects simultaneously, creative acumen, maturity and enthusiasm.
Generalist Responsibilities
Reporting to the SVP Corporate Responsibility, the Manager will act as internal subject matter expert and leader of the company’s strategy for children’s health and nutrition.
Develop and implement strategic company-wide plans
Provide company divisions with leadership and strategic advice related to kids health and nutrition programs
Establish and lead cross divisional Children’s wellness council
Analyze emerging issues and provide thought-leadership on Disney perspective
Manage TWDC nutrition policy and operating guidelines
Evaluate potential updates as necessary
Oversee approvals pertaining to food marketing and promotion, working with the approvals manager in Corporate Brand Management
Train internal stakeholders on nutrition guidelines and their use
Monitor progress and report on guidelines implementation
Develop consumer educations plans; define key messages and lead company divisions to develop programs to support them
Identify and coordinate outside expert advisors and partners
Partner with creative departments to successfully and seamlessly integrate wellness messages into entertainment
Help the company participate as a thought leader in the industry
Continue dialogue with government and NGO stakeholders; respond to inquiries
Cultivate relationships with outside organizations and potential partners
Develop and deliver presentations and speeches pertaining to TWDC’s effort in this area
Identify opportunities for publicity surrounding Disney’s efforts; prepare materials and coordinate releases with communications teams
