Whilst much of the composition of tailings (waste rock and minerals from mining etc)is environmentally hazardous, is there a way for the bulk barren rock to be converted into a safe and economical source of grit for roads? As we saw in the recent cold spell here in Ireland grit becomes a very valuable comodity, and as such being able to use tailings for this purpose could help two problems at once. I have not researched this thoroughly but would be interested in knowing if it is a feesible idea?
