Watch Out Tesla- here comes some upmarket EVs

rolls royce Rolls Royce has unveiled its prototype 102EX, an all-electric luxury adaptation of the Phantom – the British firm's envy-topping model.

At a likely cost of around $1.6 million, you’ve got to be keen- and rich!  But in case you’re keen the Phantom EE (Experimental Electric) also delivers390 horse-power from its twin electric motors and gets from zero to 60 in less than 8 seconds, and all with zero tailpipe emissions.

The usual V12 petrol engine has been replaced with two electric motors, and a very large lithium-ion battery pack. The frame is all made from aluminum to reduce weight. It’s got a range of 120 miles

If you can’t decide between an all-electric, plug-in hybrid or diesel vehicle?

With just a touch of a button the new Volvo V60 Plug-In Hybrid sports wagon can change between those modes so you can experience all three modes during a single trip. And if you can’t decide which mode to operate, well the car can make that choice for you.

It featuresa 70-horsepower electric motor, and the lithium-ion battery pack provides a 30-mile range per charge.  Each full charge takes about three hours.

It's currently just a concept but Volvo says it could be at dealerships in Europe by 2012.

We will be interested to see if these brands deliver on these protoypes.
