The last episode of the BBC's "Frozen Planet" documentary series which focuses on climate change has been canceled in the US and other countries. This has aroused fierce criticism.
All seven episodes of the multi-million pound nature series, written and presented by Sir David Attenborough, will be screened in the UK. The final show 'On Thin Ice', has been shelved by several foreign TV channels, including the Discovery channel in the US.
This last program looks at the man-made threat to the environment. It examines the melting of the Earth's ice-caps and the consequences of this for us all. But apparently this sort of thing is too scary for US viewers and it's been withdrawn.
The documentary covers the disappearance of two massive wilderness areas-the Arctic and the Antarctic.
According to the BBC, ten countries have chosen not to screen the final episode. But the DVD will be available.
Interesting that we need to be protected from the consequences of what we are doing because its likely to cause panic. So let's not panic anyone and keep doing it? Makes no sense to us !

This is not in fact true. Discovery and BBC are doing this as a co production, and Discovery is cutting it differently. See TreeHugger :
Regarding the much-discussed seventh episode airing on the BBC, Discovery Channel says that there are a lot of programing decisions still to be made, but divulged that even if the footage is cut to be six episodes, as planned in the US, the essence of the BBC's seven episodes will be represented throughout the US version of the series. In other words, the reality of climate change will be present throughout the entire series.
