Ten Anti-cycling Tips

Kristy Arbon

Recycling is great, but anti-cycling is better. Stop things entering the cycle (which includes waterways, the air and landfill) by following these tips:

  1. Use cloth handkerchiefs and napkins.
  2. Take reusable shopping bags to the store with you.
  3. Buy in bulk and avoid individually wrapped items when possible.
  4. Stop unwanted junk mail through a free online service.
  5. Read magazines and newspapers online.
  6. Use the Internet to pay bills, correspond with business associates and stay in touch with friends.
  7. Organize to have your bank statements available online rather than sent via the post.
  8. Take a mug for filling at the coffee shop rather than using paper cups.
  9. Use washable cloth towels in the kitchen rather than paper towels.
  10. Take your own containers to restaurants if you want to carry leftovers home.
