Telling Your Kids About the Blanket

Jessica Gottlieb

Overheard on the way to school this morning:

Jane: Mom, do we use Tide?

Me: Ummm, I'm not really sure, why?

Jane: Mrs. H says that Tide takes 15 years to work its way back into the Earth.

Me: Tide specifically?

Jane: All those detergents and things. She says that if you go to Gelson's or Whole Foods you can get detergents that don't put a blanket on the Earth.

Me: What blanket?

Jane: You know all the stuff gets caught in a blanket over the earth and it makes it get too hot. It's like a fever and we have to take the blanket off.

There's a blanket of goo covering the Earth. Thank you Mrs. H for making my daughter understand the concept of Global Warming and empowering her to make choices to cool it.
