Saturday 24 October was the international day of climate action, organized by 350.org. Over 180 countries held events designed to draw attention to global warming and to inspire action within communities and government. The movement was reported as being "the most widespread day of political action the world has ever seen", by some journalists.
Events were varied, ranging from protests at coal mines to sing-along picnics. Photos also showed climbers in Switzerland displaying flags, students in Manila repairing their flood-damaged homes in 350 t-shirts and organized bike rides in Copenhagen and San Francisco.
The organizers say the global event was incredibly successful, gaining the attention of media the world over, and serves as a great platform for real change.
All the photos submitted by people around the world were compiled by the 350 team today in preparation for delivery to high-end ministers in upcoming summits in Barcelona and Copenhagen. The group also planned to deliver the messages and photos to the United Nations.
Over 15,000 photos have been submitted so far and you can check them out here.
