This coming Sunday, February 17th, an enormous “forward on climate” rally is to take place in Washington. It will be the largest climate rally in US history and it has a clear goal .
The goal is to ensure that President Obama rejects the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline because it is an environmental disaster in the making. But the rally also seeks to convince President to take real action on climate change as he promised in his inauguration address for his second term
The protest now involves dozens of groups, and it is expected to draw worried protestors from all over to demonstrate on the National Mall. If you don't live in DC? Not to worry – organizers are in the midst of arranging buses and other transportation options to bring folks in. The best way to keep up to date on these options is to sign up!
The rally is not just about halting climate disruption which the Keystone pipeline would create, its also about creating real clean energy.
Those clean energy technologies that are needed to reverse climate disruption already exist. And they keep dropping in price so they are now highly competitive and ready to go .
