Dirty Stories

Kate R.

In order to generate excitement around humble dirt - the star of a new movie bearing its name - people are being encouraged to visit the official site and share their own soil stories.

Dirt! The Movie, due out in December, tells the amazing story of humans and our relationship with the earth beneath our feet. As described on the website:

"Dirt feeds us and gives us shelter. Dirt holds and cleans our water. Dirt heals us and makes us beautiful. Dirt regulates the earth's climate. Dirt is the ultimate natural resource for all life on earth."

Of course the issue lies in the way we treat our soil. Like so many resources, humans have continued to abuse and destroy this substrate, and we are now beginning to understand the consequences of such actions. Think mass starvation, floods, droughts, global warming and war - pretty grim!

By visiting the site and telling your dirty little story, you can help generate some "dirtroots" excitement around the movie and be a part of a 'back-to-the-dirt' movement. Whether you garden in it, play in it, work with it, or live on it, they want to know about your dirt and what it means to you.
