The EU is planning to introduce some serious energy use standards for a wide range of "energy-related" goods. From appliances to windows and showerheads - inefficient products will effectively be banned from the market.

In the UK, a major reversal in terms of energy policy brings about the end of the dirtiest kind of coal power. No new power plants are allowed to be built in Britain unless they capture and bury at least 25% of their greenhouse gas emissions, and 100% by 2025.

Climate change is proving a danger to indigenous peoples everywhere. In Alaska, an entire Eskimo village has been forced to abandon its flooded lands, a fate that threatens 26 other villages. Earlier this week, indigenous groups from 80 world nations held a global climate change summit.

A new study study is linking wildfires and climate change in an uncomfortable way - not only are more frequent fires a consequence of climate change, they are also an important cause. Intentional deforestation fires contribute up to one fifth of the human-caused increase in carbon emissions, according to these findings.
