Wales has announced ambitious plans to become self-sufficient on renewable energy within 20 years, as well as reduce waste to zero by 2050. The government proposals would make it one of the only three countries with legally binding sustainability targets in the world.

Japan has pledged $528 million of climate aid to small Pacific islands at risk from rising sea levels over the next three years. The funds aim to help nations develop clean energy projects and cope with climate change.
