The first solar photovoltaic concentrator to receive certification for commercial use will be available soon.
Manufactured by Energy Innovations, the Sunflower rooftop system concentrates light over 1,000 times, which the manufacturers claim will provide cheaper electricity than produced by traditional solar systems. The self-powered system solar concentrator tracks the sun, and shifts angles to take best advantage of available light.
The system has been formally approved by Underwriters Laboratories, a nationally recognized product compliance and testing company. Certification is necessary to qualify for most state incentive programs.
