Mark Hertsgaard talks about why the US is so challenged to accept clean technology even when cleantech is capable of strong economic returns.

The climate deniers, he says, have a large megaphone called Fox News and other such media. But he goes on to point out that the US has had a much stronger fossil fuel industry than any other country. Big Oil has traditionally been most heavily based in the US. Most of their money has been made here. It has grown to become the single richest business enterprise in  human history. He claims that they know perfectly well that if we take climate science seriously they will have to sell less

They have used the same mechanism ( and indeed the same scientist the tobacco industry used. In fact the template came out of the tobacco industry. The methodology was to create doubt. To raise enough  doubt to blunt the calls for political reform  was the aim of the campaign.

Looks like they have more than succeeded in the ranks of the GOP.
