Greenpeace activists in the United Kingdom have managed to shut down more than 40 BP gas stations across London.
Working in teams (each one named after a species threatened by the Gulf oil spill), the lobbyists went from station to station dismantling the pumps.
Activists chose yesterday to take a stand, as it coincided with the expected announcement that Bob Dudley would replace the gaffe-prone Tony Hayward as the company's new head.
Greenpeace are planning to continue lobbying British government and oil giants like BP, stating that they want to send a strong message to BP's new boss to ditch the spin and actually move 'beyond petroleum'.

We already have the tools we need to leave it behind and move towards a clean energy future. All that's missing is the determination to make it happen fast.
Greenpeace are asking for members of the public to write to the transport minister, pushing for positive change.
BP Spokeswoman, Sheila Williams, said that the closure of the pumps was a blatant act of vandalism, which put the safety of staff and motorists at risk.
