What the heck is Blog Action Day? I mean, how can I It's a virtual March on Washington?
It's a sit in?
An online Earth Day?
I don't know what it is or how to describe it but I sure am proud to be part of it. It's a new and exciting idea, that's for sure.
The folks over at Blog Action Day even have an environmental resources page to help get you started.
As of my writing this there are almost 13,000 blogs registered.
It's simple. Bloggers that want to get involved can do one of two things:
- On October 15th, 2007, post something about about the environment (and no, not about how beautiful my living room is) and/or environmental issues.
- Or, take your blog's ad revenue for October 15th and donate it to the green charity of your choice (I'm sure y'all are giving more than 1/365th of your income anyhow).
Don't forget to register here or you won't get all the link love that you really and truly deserve.
Also, if you think these moments don't matter, let me tell you what happened when we were getting into the car the other morning.
ME: C'mon kids, we've got to scoot.
[they file out the front door]
ME: It looks like someone left a light on in their bedroom [looking at my son Alexander].
ALEXANDER: Sheesh Mom, it isn't even Earth Day [as he stomps back in to turn off the light].
JANE: [my words coming out of her mouth] Every day is Earth Day.
Yup, our words matter.
A lot.
