Okay, hands up everyone who likes Pasta?
Well, since I can't actually see any of you, those of you with your hands up will be looking rather silly at the moment.... But, don't feel bad, pasta has a way of doing that to a person. Whether it's a child's spaghetti face, or adults trying to down a plate of spaghetti bolognese in a high-class restaurant whilst maintaining a modicum of self-esteem, or simply a Celsias blog editor catching one off guard as above - pasta has a history of making fun of us. But, like an erring child, we keep loving it anyway.
Easy, quick and delicious! For this recipe choose pasta shapes that are neither too big nor too small - spirals or penne work well.
Ingredients:
- 4c cooked pasta
- 1/2c chopped tomatoes
- 1/4c finely chopped onions
- 1/4c cooked peas
- 1/4 c cooked corn
- 1/2 - 1c soya mayonnaise
- salt to taste
Nice with fresh salad and oat-burgers. Great for picnics too.
But, before you head off to make a batch - take a couple of minutes to watch the YouTube clip below, to hear how the highly respected BBC news service fooled a generous percentage of UK citizenry on, wait for it - April 1st, 1957 - into believing spaghetti grew on trees. After this broadcast, the BBC received a great number of enquiries seeking information on where people can source their own spaghetti trees - to which the BBC responded that they should "place a sprig of spaghetti in a tin of tomato sauce and hope for the best."
