It's a fairly well known fact that celebrity media reports always attract a lot more attention than those on important cultural, social and scientific topics. Faced with a choice between a glossy magazine cover story on Brad and Angie's love life, and a research article on the solutions to world poverty - you can guess which magazine will get tatty first.
Lately we've had a little bit of cross-over, however, with the startling global warming warnings in The Inconvenient Truth eco-documentary hitting the headlines - not in science journals, but in all the glitzy magazines and celebrity media circles that any other academy award winning movie might be found.
This has caused a bit of a ruckus. Certain groups, and mainstream media organisations, have taken it upon themselves to wage a war on the movie, and its representative, Al Gore. I guess any exposure is good exposure for a topic that certainly needs agitation, but really...?
